Date May 2019 – October 2019

We were called into this project after the waste transfer centre suffered a large fire within the main warehouse area. The fire had left severe damage to the 45m span steel portal frame.

Our instructions were to provide access and temporary restraint to the existing steel frame so that further inspection works and eventually repairs to be undertaken. We achieved this by using a combination of RMD super slim soldiers to support the main column lines laterally and a scaffold birdcage to support the main castellated beams throughout their length and provide the access for repair work.

Additional scaffolding was required externally to provide support to the existing canopy to inspect for damage caused by the fire. At a later date a bracing system was designed using 450mm deep aluminium beams under-slung from the castellation beams while the roof was stripped off to replace the purlins and sheeting.
